That sounds like an "us" problem

Updated: May 7, 2022

In my corporate career, we often used HR Consultancies to support internal HR teams. And I can honestly say, hand on heart, that none of the consultants we used impressed me with their service.

Now, that's just my experience. Yours might be different.

But my experiences with those consultancies heavily influenced how I wanted to run Lilac HR.

The first thing I decided was that I did not want to offer retainer contracts for longer than 12 months.

Some HR consultancies out there like to tie you in for 3, 5, even 7 years 😱 to get you a "better" price.

And I think that's f***ing ridiculous.

Your business will move, evolve, grow and change SO MUCH over 12 months. So how on earth can you commit to 7 years of the same level of support?!

Some of my clients signed up for the Essentials plan and outgrew it within 6 months because their business needs changed so much in as much time.

We don't try to make our clients fit into boxes. Obviously, maintaining some consistency in the packages we offer is beneficial to my sanity, but that's an "us" problem...not a client problem.

HR is supposed to support the business. So it baffles me that HR consultancies try to make their client's businesses support them. It's so backwards!!

We will always do what we can to find a solution for our clients that gives them the most cost effective, relevant support possible. Simply because that's what we believe in. Shona P.S. have you heard about our new free labour planner?
